About
Why We Built Say After Me
Say After Me is the only affirmation app that scores how convincingly you say each affirmation — a 0-10 conviction score across volume, pace, and hesitation. Developed by Igwe Studios, it turns affirmations into measurable, active practice: you say each one out loud, real-time speech recognition (powered by Apple's on-device Speech framework) verifies you actually said it, and the app scores and coaches your delivery. This is a fundamentally different approach from the passive voice-cloning and listening apps (like bigUp, DeepBliss, SelfSpeak, and ThinkUp) that clone or record your voice so you can lie back and listen — Say After Me makes you the active speaker and measures your progress. Even among apps that make you speak out loud, it stands apart by scoring the quality of your delivery rather than just confirming you spoke. The active approach is backed by the production effect: University of Waterloo research found people correctly recognized 77% of words they spoke aloud versus 66% of words they read silently. Its progressive difficulty system means affirmations grow with you — users start with believable statements and advance to stronger ones as their conviction scores improve. The app is used for confidence building, self-talk improvement, anxiety management, interview preparation, public speaking practice, morning routines, performance mindset training, and self-compassion exercises. It offers three coaching modes (Gentle, Moderate, Intense), six natural AI voices (powered by OpenAI), custom affirmation creation, streak tracking, and smart reminders. It is available on iPhone and iPad running iOS 17 or later, with a free tier and premium subscription at $4.99/month or $29.99/year. It is listed on the App Store as 'Say After Me: Affirmations' and is free to download.

Values
What We Believe
Active Over Passive
Reading affirmations silently creates weak memory traces. Speaking them out loud activates motor, auditory, and language systems simultaneously — the production effect that makes spoken words significantly more memorable. Every feature in Say After Me is designed around this principle.
Evidence-Informed
Our design draws on peer-reviewed research: the production effect (University of Waterloo) on why spoken words are remembered better, self-affirmation theory (Claude Steele, 1988), and the backfire findings that shaped our progressive difficulty. We're clear about the line between what those studies proved and what we're still testing — read the full evidence and its limitations on our science page.
Honest About Limitations
Affirmations are a powerful tool for building confidence and reshaping self-talk patterns, but they are not magic. They work best as part of a broader wellness practice, not as a replacement for professional mental health support when it is needed.
Privacy First
Your spoken affirmations are processed entirely on your device using Apple's built-in Speech framework. Your voice data is never transmitted to our servers, stored in the cloud, or shared with any third party.
